Fall Texas Toot 2026 – Texas Toot

The 2026 Fall Toot will be November 20-22

Featured this Fall:

Viols: Mary Springfels, Carol Deihl, Sydney ZumMallen
Harp: Therese Honey Lute: Hector Alfonso Torres
Voice: Danny Johnson Other: Susan Richter

Our classes include an array of introductory and technique classes, small, one-on-a-part ensembles and larger mixed vocal and instrumental groups. The size of the workshop enables us to create classes for all levels of students, from those of modest skills to advanced players and singers. In addition to classes, there will be a faculty concert, refreshments, and more.

The North Richland Hills Library is hosting a Tolkien themed event celebrating Bilbo Baggins’ birthday on Saturday, September 26, 2026, 12:00pm–2:00pm at 9015 Grand Ave, North Richland Hills, TX 76180.

The Dallas Renaissance Consort will be playing renaissance and English Country dances from Susato, Arbeau, Pratorius, and Playford on recorders, crumhorns, and viols.

Arlington Shakespeare RenFest

The first ever Shakespeare RenFest in downtown Arlington will be on Saturday, Oct 31, 2026 12pm – 6pm.

Enjoy an afternoon of live entertainment, artisan vendors full of handmade treasures, food trucks, performances, and Renaissance-inspired festivities. Then stay for Shakespeare LIVE’s production of Macbeth at 7:00 pm.

I got to direct our church choir this morning and introduced a new arrangement. It combines three pieces: “A Song Called Trumpets” by Robert Parsons, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder” by James Black, and “Morning Trumpet” by John Leland.

This year’s summer Toot will be held June 7-13 at Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. Everyone in the southwest who sings or plays medieval or renaissance music on any instruments should attend.
